Since 1982 Huntsville Alabama has been the home of an annual spring arts festival known as the Panoply Arts Festival. Panoply, which means ‘a wide-ranging and impressive display’, is a well suited name because that is exactly what you will experience this April 24th-26th in downtown Huntsville’s Big Spring Park.
The many happenings include the official Alabama State Fiddling Championship, the Annual Choreography Competition, and a local Homegrown Talent Contest. Other exhibits such as the 10-Minute Playwright performances and Photography Competition give life to local performers and photographers.
Of course some of the more popular exhibits are designed for children giving them a wide variety of hands-on, make-it-take-it , exposure to the arts. In addition several stages will host musical performances featuring jazz, gospel, songwriters showcase, and all performances are of course kid-friendly.
Did I mention the food? Yes food vendors also showcase their wares and compete in the Taste of Panoply competition for best specialty item, best entrée, best presentation, and best overall. And please don’t miss the closing fireworks extravaganza every evening.
