Thriving on Huntsville life, the Jarboes enjoy mountains in the fall, lake in the summer, and volunteering with both Madison County Special Olympics and Manna House. One piece of advice for sellers:

In the case of homebuyers, people do judge a book by it’s cover. So if you don’t catch their eye with the outside, you will most likely never get them in the door no matter how wonderful the inside.

One piece of advice for buyers:

A decision this big in your life may not necessarily be easy, but it can definitely be enjoyable! There are no dumb questions, and your not just finding a home to buy, it’s educating yourself to make the best decision for one of the biggest things you will ever do in your life! No pressure, huh?!

What brought you into Real Estate?

I don’t think I ever had a choice! I was determined that real estate was not a “real career” and being self employed was just crazy. But after coming from a family who had several local businesses and 2 generations before me in real estate, I was doomed! And I am so thankful I explored other fields before I came to real estate. Not only did it make me realize my true passion, but it gave me so much more appreciation for what a Realtor does, and for how this career allows me to help others while still being able to make time for my family!

What do you remember about your first sale?:

My first sale/closing was a 65 year old first time homebuyer. Such a sweet mother and grandmother, raising her grandson and supporting her mentally ill son who served in the military. She wanted them all under the same roof. We still talk today. I put it on my list of harder transactions, but will always be thankful my first closing was not simple. It required I do a lot of problem solving and required me to be very familiar with the rules/laws our transaction must abide by to fight for what my client, per the contract, was entitled too. It also taught me that in real estate, like in every other field, not all Realtors are ethical (yes, the agent was also the seller…)

Huntsville’s best kept secret?

There are tons that I can think of, but the first to pop in my mind was our cave systems. Our city sits on top of several cave systems. There are several entrances to large caves within our city limits. Some have been used to film movies such as Time Bandits, and some host dinner and dances for land trust fundraisers. I have had the pleasure of experiencing overnight trips in a local cave as well as having the rare opportunity to explore into places like the “crystal room” at Cathedral Caverns that has been seen by very few in person. Our caves are just one of many wonders in our area!
