\u201cElizabeth, The more I think about you not wanting to list my home, the more ANGRY I am getting.\u00a0 I can\u2019t believe you aren\u2019t even\u00a0willing to stick a damn sign in my yard\u201d.<\/p>\n

This was a voice mail that I woke up to this morning.\u00a0 Ugh. The caller was upset….very upset.<\/p>\n

The back story goes like this:\u00a0 Mrs. Seller has a home that has expired.\u00a0 It has been on the market for over 6 months with another company.\u00a0 Mrs. Seller called me stating that she loved our website and the exposure that it offered.\u00a0 I was thrilled and excited at the prospect of adding another great listing to @ Homes Realty Group <\/a>portfolio…UNTIL I saw the comparable\u2019s for her home.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Seller \u201cneeds\u201d a certain price to be able to move on.\u00a0 If they don\u2019t get this price, they are unwilling to sell.\u00a0 I certainly understand that.\u00a0 As the market sits now, we go on more listing appointments than we accept.\u00a0 If we don\u2019t think we can get you the price you need or want, we must be honest. \u00a0Our consumers deserve the truth!<\/p>\n

I called Mrs. Seller back. \u201cI\u2019m so sorry that you are offended that I am not interested in your listing.\u00a0 It was not my intent to offend you in anyway, but rather to be honest with you and educate you on the current market conditions. \u00a0Doing so enables you to make an educated decision as to whether NOW is the best time to sell or not.\u00a0 I was hoping after our conversation that you understood why I felt I wasn’t the best agent for you\u201d. \u00a0She still wanted me to “just” stick our sign in her yard. \u00a0She deserves better. \u00a0There is so much more to selling a home than sticking a sign in the yard. (More on that later)<\/p>\n

I was not the best agent for her for a reason.\u00a0 I don\u2019t believe I can get her the price she needs to enable her family to move on.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 The real estate market TELLS me I can\u2019t. \u00a0 The market, via buyers, in fact is screaming \u201cDO NOT OVERPRICE please…we aren\u2019t interested\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Seller was baffled as to why I wouldn’t\u00a0want our @ Homes Realty Group sign in the yard, if nothing else rather than to obtain sign calls.\u00a0 She actually said that. I\u2019ll tell you why…I must believe I can sell your home and market it to the best of my ability and all that comes with being a true professional.\u00a0 Being professional means stating the truth.\u00a0 When buyers do call us, we can show them the value on each and every one of our listings.\u00a0 Value can mean more than one thing: Amenities, location, price, etc.<\/p>\n

If you are considering selling your home in Huntsville<\/a>, here are a few important things to keep in mind when interviewing your Huntsville real estate agent:<\/p>\n

  1. Do they KNOW the Huntsville real estate market?\u00a0 This is so important! \u00a0Did they share market reports?<\/li>\n
  2. Do they show you a marketing plan?<\/li>\n
  3. Do they market online?\u00a0 Google their listings to see how they stack up against the competition.\u00a0 This is very important, since nearly 90% of buyers begin their search online.<\/li>\n
  4. Most importantly, do you trust them?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
