Started in California but So American!
Sometimes when someone speaks of a Ranch Home they are talking about a nationwide home style that started in California during the 1950’s and 60’s, and later became ‘The Predominate‘ home style in the United States.
However more often than not, these days, when someone mentions they are interested in a Ranch Home, they are not really talking about looking for an older 1950’s – 60’s home; they are likely just speaking about an easily maintained and navigable Single Story Home.
They may even be speaking of a home that is just symmetrically shaped with a low roof line, attached garage, and living areas separate from the bedroom area, regardless of the actual architectural style be it Craftsman, Bungalow, Traditional, Contemporary, etc. In fact ‘Hubby’ and I have recently started our own multi-year (lol) search for a retirement ranch home; where hopefully, if we live long enough, stair cases and daily maintenance of a large multi-story home could become an issue. 🙂
Thankfully these Single Story Ranch Homes are easy to search for, just use the following links to explore these homes in your favorite local community or use the convenient Huntsville subdivision – neighborhood search links included along with these descriptions.
