For those that live there, I have asked that very question. They love the sense of community, the 4 lakes, the large community pool and tennis courts. The homeowners also love the community events, from wine tastings to Easter Egg hunts.
You’ll even find a playground and walking trails. From atop Highland Lakes, you’ll catch breath taking views of Huntsville. Recently while showing homes, I was in awe of the gorgeous fall colors that surrounded me. It was gorgeous!

The real estate market has been tough on Highland Lakes the past 2 years. I pulled market statistics for the past 5 years. What these figures show is that price per square foot has dropped $6-8 per sq. foot in the past 2 years. From a high of $137 in 2005, to a low of $122 in 2010. This year, the average has been $124. The average sale price in 2005 was $506,852 and this year, the average sale price for homes in Highland Lakes has dropped to $481,300.
