Madison City Schools Public Meeting
On December 1st, 2011 join Madison City Schools Superintendant Dr. Dee Fowler as he presents ideas for zoning to the Board of Education.
Dr. Fowler formed a “Transition Committee” to bring the community together while going through the zoning process. The group is made up of parents, teachers, administrators and community members. I agree with Dr. Fowler when he stated:
“It is great to have such diverse opinions and advice when trying to come to a community solution”
James Clemens High School
Can you believe it, seems like we just got this interst free bond money from the stimulas plan nonetheless, the new James Clemens High School will open in the fall of 2012.
The changing of school zones and neighborhood assignments are being discussed to accommodate the much needed expansion of our award winning schools. Dr. Fowler will be making a presentation to the Madison City School Board with varying zone lines and grade configurations. Discussions will include rezoning of:
- Elementary Schools, Middle Schools, and High Schools
A few ideas have been to also reconfigure the school grades as follows:
Grade Configuration: Over the course of the past few months there have been discussions of several grade configuration options. These options suggest that we open James Clemens with grades 9 and 10; or grades 9, 10, 11; or with grades 9 , 10, and give the juniors zoned to James Clemens the option of attending or 9, 10, 11, and give the seniors in the James Clemens zone the option of attending JCHS year one.
Dr. Fowler will present these options December 1 to the Board and more detailed information can be found in this recent Madison City School Analysis.
If you have an interest in the new zoning that will take place, plan on attending December 1st at 5:00 pm. The meeting will be held at Columbia Elementary School located at 667 Balch Road Madison, AL 35758
