Competition – Location, Location, Location
Every real estate market is different when it comes to Internet competition. Local Realtor Boards often throttle what can and can-not be done, and several still hold to information-control-tactics long held sacred by old-school thinking. Simply put, many have yet to recognize the massive shift of control within the industry from Broker to Consumer.
I’m especially excited about the Birmingham Alabama Real Estate market, because it very much reminds me of the local Huntsville market only a few years ago. Huntsville was a dream come true, competitively speaking, very few local IDX real estate sites, and virtually no well established social marketing efforts via Blogs and the social media. My how things have changed, and just think, it was only 2 years ago when we able to publish the Address of a home for sale, imagine that! Now local competition for consumer website visits is well, ‘fierce’ would be a good word. I only wish I had a nickle for every dollar local brokerages are throwing at this endeavor.
