No longer may I make fun of other Realtors who are/were unaware of our Weatherly Heights neighborhood in Southeast Huntsville!  We’ve lived here nearly 10 years and I just recently discovered a neighborhood that is less than a 1/4 mile south of my home (as the crow flies).  How did I not know this was here?  Just goes to show you that, yet again, I have become that which I made fun of.

Allow me to introduce you to Shadow Wood:

How To Get There:  Turn right onto Todd Mill just west of Weatherly Elementary and the YMCA.  Follow the road around the school, over the river and through the woods… oh, no wait.  That’s another thing.  Follow the road around the school and turn right onto Shades Road.  As you climb the hill you’ll notice that most of the houses surrounding Shadow Wood are much like mine… older ranch style homes on beautiful lots.

But, drive further and you’ll see newer construction.  Homes built in the mid-90’s and selling in the mid-200’s.  Farther still you’ll discover some even newer homes on Kodiak, Covington, Shadow Wood, and Windy Wood, some of which have been built in the past 5-10 years and would sell anywhere from $300,000-$500,000.  Right now there are two brand new homes on the Kodiak cul-de-sac, both are pushing 4000sf and BOTH are priced at about $380,000.  Gorgeous homes literally YARDS from my front door that I never even knew they existed!!

I’ve toured both and I was impressed by both. Two different builders.  Two very similar floorplans.  Both builders went with a Craftsman style and both chose to install gas stoves.  That’s a rare thing for Huntsville Real Estate.  Both homes offer finished daylight basements that are set up to accommodate either teens or in-laws.  And both basements boast a 2nd kitchen.
