Sun July 6th – Day Three
Get the kids up early for a fun filled day at the US Space and Rocket Center. Visitors to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center will experience Huntsville’s role in the making of the moon rocket, the space race, the Apollo missions, and learn about the Space Shuttle program. You will also learn about the International Space Station and the next beginnings with NASA’s Constellation project
The US Space and Rocket Center has so much to offer, for the entire family. Here, you can visit one of the 5 wonders of the United States. The Saturn 5 Rocket! The U.S. Space & Rocket Center has one of the greatest collections of rockets and space memorabilia anywhere in the world!
Take in all of the space rides, starting with the Space Shot! This is where you will experience what a rocket launch feels like! Next, try the G-Force Accelerator. Here you will experience three times the force of gravity, while spinning like crazy! Now, on to the Kids Cosmos Energy Depletion Zone! The kids can pretend they are astronauts and crawl around the Space Station, up into the rocket and experience being launched to the moon! This is a kid pleaser for sure! How about trying the Apollo Cockpit Trainer? If you ever wanted to experience an Apollo mission to the moon, here is your chance! Simulators like this were used to train the Apollo astronauts, for up to 80% of their training. Wow!
To better understand our space travel history and to learn of Nasa’s future plans, head on over to the
Discovery Theater. Did you know that the International Space Station zips around the Earth at over 17,000 MPH? Any questions you have about past and future space travel can be answered here. Rocket questions? No problem! There are 3 shows daily.
Are the kids driving you up the wall? Have them go climb one at the Mars Mission, Mars Climbing Wall. This is your opportunity to journey to Mars! Here you can scale part of the Olympus Mons, the tallest volcano in he solar system, on the Mars Climbing Wall!
As if all of the attractions weren’t enough, there is even an IMAX theater. The Discovery Theater is in 3-D! Grab a bucket of popcorn and enjoy the shows.
No need to pack a lunch. The snack bar offers hot dogs, nachos and more. Sure to please the kids. (Nothing beats a good hot dog, even for the parents). Admission cost is $24.95 per adult, which includes one movie, and $19.95 for kids, with one movie. Be sure to check the height requirements for the rides.
Total Cost of day 3: $129.80. This includes 2 adult and 2 kids admissions, including 1 movie each, AND I added in $40 for lunch and souvenirs! This is a deal for the experience you will receive.

I am amazed at the total cost of the Stay-cation! Drum roll please…..For a family of four, for THREE days of action packed activities, the total is $297.80.
