Beer and Wine Centric Events
Biergarten at the Space and Rocket Center is every Thursday evening 4:30 to 7:30 from now until October 22nd. Get a taste of Wernher Von Braun’s culture with authentic German cuisine, wines, and imported and domestic beer. This family friendly event is held rain or shine, admission is free, and food and beverages are available for purchase.
The inaugural downtown High Gravity Tasting Experience is Sunday October 18th from 1pm to 6pm outside the Old Town Beer Exchange on Holmes Avenue. Have fun tasting beer and wine while you listen to live music and play cornhole. Tickets available at the event.
Enjoy some beer for a good cause at Huntsville’s Third Annual Pro Bono Brews. This event, sponsored by the Madison County Volunteer Lawyers Program and Free the Hops, is being held at the Huntsville Depot Roundhouse this year on Friday, October 23rd from 6pm to 9pm. Experience the craft beer of fifteen different Alabama breweries while you nosh on food from Taco Mama, listen to live music, bid on a silent auction, and vote for your favorite brewery to win the “Pro Bono Cup” award. Another fun way to try some local beer is on the Beer Hop Craft Beer Trolley Tour. On October 29th let the city trolley be your designated driver to three local downtown breweries. Start at the brewery of your choice, the trolley runs from 5pm to 9pm. Food trucks will be parked at each brewery to take care of any after work hunger pangs. The $25 ticket covers a flight of beer at each brewery and you are welcome to purchase more if you like. Tickets available at homegrownhuntsville.com
If you’re looking for a different way to celebrate Halloween, you can enjoy Spirits in the Garden on October 29th from 6pm to 8pm at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens. Try some botanical spirits and seasonal craft beers from Southern Pride Distillery and local breweries. Listen to live music and even a ghost story or two while you enjoy some appetizers along with your drinks.
Fun Food Options
The 41st annual Taste of Huntsville is Thursday, October 15th from 5:30pm to 8pm at the Von Braun Center. Sample foods from over 50 restaurant and beverage vendors from Madison County. This food lover’s dream date raises money for two local charities while local restaurants compete for awards in food presentation and taste. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door.
Food trucks are all the rage in downtown Huntsville and there are a couple of different opportunities to check them out. Start your weekend with Food Truck Breakfast every Saturday morning through October 31st as food trucks gather at the Courthouse Square from 7am to 11am. Or, grab dinner at the Food Truck Rally on Friday October 16th from 6pm to 9pm on Church Street at Big Spring Park. With over 20 food trucks, local craft beer, and live music, this popular event is fun for all ages.
And finally, be sure to make room in one of your beautiful fall weekends to take a Downtown Dish Huntsville Food Tour offered on Saturdays from 11am to 1:30pm. Stroll through charming downtown Huntsville as you visit local restaurants and specialty shops. Peek behind the curtain of these businesses as you learn what it takes from the people who make it happen. You’ll leave with your hunger satisfied from samplings at 6 locations and learn some Huntsville history and folklore along the way.
