Your home needs to be ready to show on a moments notice. Realistically, be ready within an hour to show. Far too often I see “Must have 24 hour notice to show”. You need to be ready when a buyer wants to look, or they will more than likely pass you by.
Don’t Just List It – Market It!

Be a Neat Freak:
This can be one of the most challenging chores of selling your Huntsville home. Remember the article about first impressions? They DO matter. Keep your lawn in good condition and all bikes, skateboards, and trashcans put up.
Before the home is being shown:
Let the sunshine in! Open your blinds and turn lights on. Well-lit homes show best. For evening showings, turn on landscaping and exterior lighting as well.
This is typically the most important room in the house for many buyers. Kitchens DO make or break a sale. Keep your kitchen clean, tidy and clutter free. Buyers love to check out cabinets and storage space. Leave them smiling when they see how organized you are! Keep your kitchen spotless, top to bottom. Second most popular room! Many buyers are out growing their current home and need more space. Huntsville home buyers often think of the Master as their oasis. Keep your nightstands/dressers clean and uncluttered. Make sure your closets remain tidy, leaving the buyer feelings of plentiful storage. Organized closets are always a hit. Keep your bath spotless. Shower doors and mirrors sparkling, shampoos to a minimum in your shower, etc. Make sure your towels are fresh.
The rest of the home:
Keep it clean, tidy and “a place for everything and everything in its place”. If you have small children, bribery always works :) Beds need to be made daily, toys in their place. Put your collection of remotes in their place and mail in a drawer.
Conceal your critters:
Shocking to hear, but not everyone is a dog or cat lover. I’ve had many buyers that are allergic to cats. Keep your home and furniture free from pet hair. Otherwise, you’ll leave buyers with an impression that your home is not clean. Put your dog beds/toys away. Keep the litter box clean.
