Huntsville Home Prices Lower But Holding Steady

When looking at January single-family-home prices for the Huntsville Metro Area we find that the average sales price for this recent month was $87 Sqr/Ft, while January 2008 prices averaged $91 Sqr/Ft, indicating a year-over-year seasonally adjusted price depreciation of -4.4%.

Home Buyers Tax Credit – Now Bigger and Better

In 2008 Congress passed a First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit that amounted to an interest-free loan of 10% of the purchase price up to $7,500.

Since our last area foreclosure update Alabama and Mississippi once again ranked among states with the fewest foreclosures ranked 39th and 43rd respectively by a recent RealtyTrac report. Surrounding southeastern states didn’t fare as well: Florida ranked 4th, Georgia 8th, and Tennessee 18th.
